Tumescent Liposuction Frequently Asked Questions
Will Tumescent Liposuction Cure Cellulite?
Tumescent Liposuction is not designed to address the skin deformity known popularly as "Cellulite". Cellulite is caused by the very superficial compartmentalization of fat into small superficial pockets caused by a peculiarity of fat distribution which is associated with many firm fibrous bands running from the most superficial fibrous structural fascia, a few millimeters beneath the skin, to the underside of the skin, causing the typical pebbled look of the skin which is plumped by the superficial fat between these fibrous bands. Tumescent Liposuction will not relieve these bands, and thus has little impact on Cellulite. I often the use of Silhouette SilkLight Subdermal Cellulite Massage Therapy using the method of ESC's Silhouette machine to help correct this superficial fat storage distribution problem. We often recommend a course of 18 supplemental SubDermal Therapy sessions as an adjunct to Tumescent Liposuction, and often include a couple of introductory sessions 6 wks after the Liposuction surgery. A link to Subdermal Therapy is on any of the Liposuction Pages.
