Tumescent Liposuction Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do to Prepare for Tumescent Liposuction Surgery?
As with any surgery, it is important to avoid drugs that promote bleeding, including Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and any arthritis pain medication for one week before surgery. Vitamin E should be stopped for at least 3-4 weeks, since it interferes with Vit. K function to produce clotting factors in the liver. A good hot shower with your choice of soap is important the morning of surgery as is avoiding any body hair maintenance, such as shaving or waxing the surgical areas to avoid ingrown hair. You should arrive for surgery with an empty stomach, but may take important morning medications with a sip of water. Ask us if you have any questions in that regard. Everyone knows that smoking disrupts wound healing, and causes increased pain post-op, and so we request that patients stop smoking several weeks before any surgery.
