Tumescent Liposuction Frequently Asked Questions
How long is Recovery after Tumescent Liposuction?
Tumescent Liposuction, because of its limited bleeding and thus limited bruising, results in rapid achievement of improved contours. Nonetheless, part of the Tumescent Liposuction contouring process is the formation of internal contractile scarring which compacts the tissues further, leading to evolving improvement in the result out to about 3 months. Thus, although dramatic improvement is usually apparent in my patients within 10-14 days, it still will take up to 12 weeks for the maximum improvement to be realized. Patients wear a comfortable compression girdle for about 2 weeks full- time, then a third week part-time, with return to light activities and work almost immediately, but restriction of aerobic exercise for about 2 -3 weeks to prevent persistence of early post-op swelling.
