Tumescent Liposuction Frequently Asked Questions
Is Tumescent Liposuction a safe Weight Loss alternative?
Tumescent Liposuction, is not, and never has been intended as a primary weight loss technique, although it is a successful adjunct to weight loss in individuals who are nearing their ideal body weight via sensible diet and exercise. It is best to carry out Tumescent Liposuction when you are closer to your target weight, since at higher weights, areas of predictable excess can be identified, but there is no way to predict how much of the excess is genetically determined and persistent, versus how much is due to simple excess weight, and thus reversible. Some doctors (since there are non-surgeons who appoint themselves cosmetic surgery practitioners) have recently decided to extend the bounds of safe Tumescent Liposuction by expanding its use to try to debulk large volumes of fat, and thus weight from very obese individuals, often employing the much-hyped Ultrasonic Liposuction method. It would be difficult to consider this use of Liposuction as either safe or prudent ,as there have been some severe complications, and even deaths in obese individuals undergoing this surgery, despite some excellent results as well.
