Trans-axillary Augmentation Scars:
	Trans-axillary placement of breast implants is my approach of choice for breast augmentation or enlargement surgery, although other approaches are also available. The approach is viable for saline or silicone implants, although special insertion devices (Keller funnel) are needed to place silicone implants in this manner . This approach allows for virtual elimination of visible scars in most patients, and eliminates any scars on the breast. Several examples appear below.

Case 2: A very thin 31 year old woman underwent Breast Augmentation by Trans - Axillary approach. Scars are shown 3 months post-op.

These scars will be very inconspicuous when the redness fades. This patient has scant breast tissue and a very prominent breast bone, but still has achieved excellent breast shape by placing her implants in the sub-muscular position.

Case 3: A 3 year post-op photo showing axillary scar in a 25 year old. The scar is virtually invisible even when viewed in the office during this follow - up exam.
